How to Keep Your Volunteers Engaged with Mobile

For any nonprofit, the initial recruitment of volunteers to your cause is only the beginning. Keeping those supporters engaged and connected year after year is the key to your organization’s success. Most nonprofits wouldn’t be able to enact their vision without volunteers and increasing retention rates for those individuals is the perfect challenge for a mobile marketing tour to solve.

One way to utilize a mobile tour is simply to keep in touch! You can create a mobile exhibit that informs attendees what your nonprofit has been up to, such as different campaigns, new programs you’ve implemented or your plan. A mobile tour is also a great way to engage with volunteers and express corporate initiatives on a more local level. Or promote uplifting success stories through video and photos and be sure to share encouraging statistics related to your work. All of this will help maintain the emotional connection that was most likely the reason volunteers got involved with your organization in the first place.

Recognizing and appreciating the time, effort and funds your supporters bring to your organization is another way to approach a tour. Invite your volunteers to your exhibit and have appreciation gifts or awards to give them. You could also identify one key volunteer per area who has gone above and beyond and recognize them in a special way. If your nonprofit has chosen to do an awareness tour, an invite-only party held after an event would be a great way to celebrate your supporters.

A mobile exhibit will reconnect you with your volunteer base in a way a phone call or mailing can’t. It’s flexible and customizable, lets your organization reach areas that may be neglected and allows you to learn more about your supporters than you would have otherwise. When your volunteers can interact with people who are just as excited about your mission and the work you do, their enthusiasm about continuing to support your organization will endure for years to come.
