Secrets to Successful Tour Routing
With your vehicle selected and designs finalized, it is time to start scheduling your tour route and locations. While routing requires strategic planning, it doesn't have to be overwhelming and there are many ways to maximize your audience reach and ROI. Here are few things to consider when planning your tour route locations and schedule.
Pre-Tour Research: By first understanding audience behaviors, lifestyles, and habits, will help you identify which locations, venues and events and increase the likelihood of bringing your experience to the right people, in the right locations at the right times. This will not only increase your reach but can lead to more impactful connections and ultimately sales.
Follow the Sun: It may seem like common sense, but when planning your mobile tour seasonality and weather conditions do play a large role in the timing of your events. To draw the largest crowds and reach more audiences, you’ll want to take weather conditions into consideration when scheduling. While you may not have any control over mother nature, you do have control over which regions you visit during which season. Whenever possible, avoid extreme weather conditions or “follow the sun.” Spend quality time in the north during summer and visit the south in the winter.
Quality Over Quantity: It is important to remember the old saying “quality trumps quantity” when determining your tour locations and route. Optimize your tour route to maximize the number of stops while covering the fewest possible miles. When mapping out your tour route, you’ll want to avoid crisscrossing already visited areas, or tacking back and forth. Also, consider set up and tear down times to better plan multi-event days or to better estimate the number of miles you cover between events.
